Feature Friday: Event Tech Startups + Booth Bus + Waterfall Mansion
You’re checked in, you’ve printed your name badge via the self check-in at the kiosk. Maybe you’ve even given your Johnny Hancock. You’re good to go!
Proceed to getting your inspiration on with this week’s finds:
Featured Venue: Waterfall Mansion
With 7 levels of quirky-fresh design, the Waterfall Mansion is a historic carriage house-turned modern event space detailed with eco-friendly decor and features. It includes a 23’ x 20’ indoor waterfall and accompanying reflecting pool inside a sculpture garden, attributing to the venue’s name while creating a unique oasis on the first floor of the building.
Formerly owned by fabric designers and artists back in the late 1800s, it’s only fitting one of NYC’s top real estate developer/lifestyle designer, Kate Shin, took over the space. Kate’s expertise and knack for style assured that each level would be built for entertaining and defined by its own character: the second floor contains the “living space” with motorized skylight windows, overlooking the waterfall; levels 3, 4, and 5 are suites and sleeper quarters; and out of the 1,355 square-foot rooftop featuring LED lighting, 1,000 square-feet contains the LiveRoof (planted gardens).
As the whole mansion is designed to be a work of art in and of itself, it also contains the Kate Shin Gallery, sponsoring artists that showcase the same passion for architectural and lifestyle design in their work. Oh, did we mention the lower level? It’s a media center that displays the artwork and also has a spa/gym/yoga studio, plus a wine cellar that can easily store over 1,000 bottles of wine.
Tastings, brand and product launches, HOLIDAY PARTIES, galas…it’s an Upper East Side gem. Connect with their event consultant Christine for venue inquiries and bookings.
Featured #Eventprofs: 2Shoes
We love startups, especially those that work towards fostering engagement among attendees at events. And no, it’s not about “shoes,” yet goody-two-shoes in a classroom, because it encourages guests to ask questions at events via their smart device thanks to a user-friendly web-based program.
The idea was created to further empower the attendee, lowering the “growing barriers of participation” at large events and conferences. It’s not limited to create value solely for the attendee, either; presenters and speakers can view and comment on feedback and questions posted by attendees, later to see how the audience felt during their presentation.
Sensation measurement, we dig it.
Make it easier for attendees to speak their voice at events and for presenters/event leaders to understand what attendees need to know. Keep the experience alive and well by connecting with the 2Shoes team to learn more about the app here.
Featured Event Idea: Booth Bus
It’s a new spin on an “old” favorite that includes vintage flair, the Booth Bus is a fun addition to any event that we’ve discovered thanks to Google Plus (Are we connected?). We’re hopeful our San Fran team gets to work an event with them—and maybe snap a #selfiebadge inside!
Her name is Georgia, and she gets gussied-up for corporate and private events in the SF Bay Area. Part of the Volks-journey is hopping into the bus, grabbing some props, and snapping some photos with the social-interactive booth. Custom props and backdrops are available aboard the Vintage Volkswagen photo booth, too.
We’ve included her in our series because, well, it’s different and we know how #eventprofs always like to keep things dynamically engaging at their social gatherings. Grab some inspiration here.
