Say Cheese!
They say that the best camera is the one you’ve got with you.
Coming from some Instagram fans addicts, we think that’s a pretty accurate statement. You could grab something like this if you really want to feel like a pro, or even go filter-crazy to make a more creative version of your pictures. But if you’re always snapping around like some of us here at Boomset, it’s helpful to be able to take a snapshot and share it. As an #eventprof, you know how hectic an event can get, and you also know how important it is to have a lot of visuals (that’s why we’re big fans of Pinterest).
Sometimes our smartphone needs a little help to create a nice quality image, so we’ve researched some apps to make everything picture perfect. Check out some of these apps that we recommend to boost your picture quality and enhance any event and add some instagood interactive engagement with your audience:
1. Over ($1.99)
No, it’s not free, but it’s so worth it. Add text and/or artwork, then play around with font sizes, colors and style—use it as a watermark or to simply make a statement. It’s user-friendly and you can share your finished masterpiece via Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.
2. Afterlight ($.99)
A less-complicated, mini-version of Photoshop and one of our favorite apps, for sure! Adjust brightness, contrast and saturation; add a highlight or mid-tone; or simply pick one of the many pre-made filters that come with the app. Add a dusty overlay or a light effect, maybe crop it to a predetermined photo size or customize it yourself, and last on the toolbar is the option to add a frame or shape overlay. Save your finished photo to your camera roll OR share it…the possibilities are almost endless. It’s also available for Android.
3. Line Camera (FREE)
Use this app if you want to get creative with artwork. It comes with tons of “stamps” you can add to your photo, or add to your collection and purchase a package option for a dollar or two more. Add a filter, crop it and write all over it using the brush/paint tool, or just add text in a fun font. This one is sure to be one you’ll play around with—and have a laugh or two. Available for Android.
4. VSCOcam (FREE)
This is one of the newbies, a NKOTB, if we may! Although it’s a little challenging to navigate at first, this app gives blog-quality photos once you get the hang of it. It features unique editing tool options, like separating focus and aperture rings, and they’re easy to adjust using the precision slider. View all image data by location, date or preset used, then organize all your images in the app’s own library. Share away! Also available for Android.
5. PicPlayPost ($1.99)
Perhaps you are looking for something with a little more motion? Create a video collage instead! This app comes with 36 adjustable frames, 72 background patterns, 8 Image filters and 7 video filters and more fun editing tools. Its easy drag-and-drop option allows you to create up to 30 seconds of video fun, and even along to the tunes of your own music! Create it, share it and play it over and over again.
What do you normally do with your #selfies pictures after editing and sharing? Well, that’s up to you, but we think that these would be a big hit at any event:
What’s your go-to photography app?
