TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE: WHY VENDORS SHOULD BE AN EVENT PLANNING PRIORITY

Have an upcoming trade show or expo? There are a lot of factors to considered when it comes to the event management. Here’s a short and sweet reminder for eventprofs that are working with vendors.
There are many times I see myself writing emails well past “EOD,” and that’s because I’m busy. No doubt about that – aren’t we all busy?
I would tend to argue that the event and hospitality industries warrant this fast-paced culture more than most. Oftentimes, event service providers become the third, fourth, and even fifth party vendors without direct access to the end user or client. That being said, vendors become the last entity to receive updates on event changes.
So what happens when there’s less communication during the event planning process? The process becomes lengthy and confusing.
It’s important to keep your vendors up to date as much as possible, especially when changes that could effect them have been made. Even if you are not totally sure whether or not it will. Here are two simple reminders:
1) Give them a call. It opens up the line of communication, and chances are they will appreciate your thoughtfulness.
2) Work with vendors as your partners, not your staff. Your vendors want to do best for you, why? One reason: they want your business again. Plain and simple.
And let’s be honest there is nothing that feels better then things running smoothly.
BONUS: You don’t have to research for a new provider next time around. You’ll be saving your time which is, of course, of the essence.
