THE EVENTPROFS REVIVAL GUIDE: BIZBASH #ELEVATENYC 2016

You’ve mostly likely read a “survival” guide at some point, from listicles of tech conferences to event industry trends and everything in between. (Those attending the upcoming IMEX Frankfurt could use some of the tips listed in this IMEX Survival Guide.)

To “survive” is the mere fact of continuing to exist or maintain a current situation. The BizBash community is all about innovation, pushing the limits, and going bigger and bolder, so the term “survival” just doesn’t fit the #ElevateNYC landscape.
As the official event check-in app and on-site name badge printing services, Boomset has passed on the “Survival Guide” to create the “#ElevateNYC Revival Guide.” Take advantage and be the most efficient you can be at this one-day conference in NYC!
SURVIVAL VS REVIVAL:
THE REVIVAL GUIDE TO BIZBASH #ELEVATENYC 2016
1. KNOW YOUR “PAL”: PEOPLE + AGENDA + LOCATION
SPEAKERS: Read through all the keynote speaker bios to figure out the best keynote speakers to educate yourself on their insight and know-how. This year’s lineup includes the VP of event marketing and conferences at Forbes and the community director of the TED Fellows program.
AGENDA: What time does the event start? When are breaks? What workshops are you most interested in? When are networking sessions, and what is your plan for meeting and greeting?
LOCATION: Know where the event venue is, and figure out what method of transportation is best for you to take. Food is provided on-site, but should you need to bring something on your own, check out places near the venue.

2. REGISTER
You can’t experience any of the fun if you haven’t registered. Like many events (especially those hosted by BizBash), there is limited space that can typically sell out. Many events reserve spots to add walk-ins, but it’s always nice know you’re an official attendee. The last thing you want is to be MIA on the guest list, and this event is likely to fill up…FAST!
3. DETERMINE YOUR GOALS
After determining the sessions you wish to attend, think about what you’d like to take away from them. Do some prep work and read about the workshops to start generating a creative flow and raise questions or ideas that could be answered or brought to fruition from the education you’ll receive on event day.
Don’t forget to focus on some key ideas that you’ll be seeking out in the networking sessions. The face-to-face time and connections you’ll make will only happen on event day, so knowing your goals and what you’d like to invest in this time will go a long way.
4. PREPARE THE ESSENTIALS
This includes having snacks, eventtech chargers, and your event look ready to go before heading to the event. Don’t forget to send any pertinent notifications to your clients and community that you’ll be immersed in an innovative experience and won’t be responding right away.
5. COLLECT IDEAS, COLLECT YOURSELF, REPEAT
After workshops and before you start to get into the attendee networking scene, take a moment or two to collect your thoughts, realign your goals, and reset yourself for the next activity or session. Reflect on the information you’ve received, go over your notes, and attend to any pressing matters before your next workshop.
