Launching Launches

Today was a day of firsts, for sure: the first snowfall in some parts of the East Coast, and we’re sure it’s someone’s first birthday out there. But for the inner tech-lover in all of us, we’re excited about the launch of #techsytalk by @lizkingevents.

Liz is an old friend of the Boomset crew, and head of one of the most tech-savvy event firms here in NYC. Their launch of Techsy Talk is aimed at bridging the gap between event technology and the event professional. The industry is going digital, haven’t you heard?

Another huge launch that we’re excited to share comes from our friends over at Forté Events and the start of their newest division, Forté Labs. If you’re an #eventprof and you’re in NYC this November, you’ll definitely want to sign up for their 4-hour training intensive course. It’s a half-day of learning how to create balance in your work and personal life, covering topics pertaining to event professionals such as, “Building A Business That Creates The Life You Want” and “Expanding Your Market,” popular topics from Tami Forero's most popular classes.

We’re letting you know now because tickets are sure to go fast and you can’t miss out on the expertise and advice that Forté has to offer. You’ll also get to check out another great NYC venue, Loft227, where the event will take place next Tuesday, November 19th.

We’ll see you there!

Feature Friday

First week of November over and done—boom! We’ve been so productive this week, it’s the weekend already, #eventprofs! We’re already gathering up tips and ideas for the next big event this autumn, but let’s get to our finds for the week:

Featured Venue: Brooklyn Winery

Local wines? Check. Exquisite seasonal cuisine in a chic-and-unique space? Check and check. It’s the perfect event space for cocktails parties, family-style sit down dinners, and even corporate team building activities. Right in the heart of Brooklyn and a stone’s throw away from Manhattan, NYers get to stay local by going local, whether it’s to pick up a bottle of artisanal deliciousness or to head down to the venue for an event they host themselves just to simply check out the space. You won’t be disappointed!

Take a look and get the scoop here.

Featured #Eventprof: Amanda, ABCey Events

As you know, we went to San Fran a couple of weeks ago to hang with our pals over at Eventbrite. Our trip was fantastic and inspiring, as we happened to discover West Coast #eventprof, ABCey Events. Amanda’s team does everything and anything from holiday parties and galas to corporate incentive and training programs. She’s also got some great ideas that she shares via Twitter and Pinterest @ABCeyEvents—definitely connect with her!

Featured (& Oh-So-YUMMY) Event Idea: Popcorn Bar

The candy bar station is sooo this last year. We’ve been talking about keeping up with the trendy for 2014, and we’re really diggin’ the newest spin on the candy bar seen by Todd Events. Get your sweet & salty crunch on all at once while giving your guests something to gab about. We absolutely love it!

We are almost through the first week of November! We spent the end of our weekend welcoming people from all over the world as they crossed the finish line at the ING NYC Marathon, which was an incredible and unforgettable experience.

What seems to be flying by us just as fast as the Marathon elitists is the time we have left until the new year: all the department stores haven’t been beating it into our brains reminding us since Halloween, or anything.

Either way, we want to be ready for what’s to come in the event industry. Here are a couple of trends to look out for in 2014:

BE MOBILE, MY FRIEND

        image

Many tech companies launched their latest runway accessory: wearable technology. In 2014, you’ll be seeing more #eventprofs in the industry sporting their virtual flair to assist them at events. You’ll see more people using their tablet instead of an actual notebook, as well.

VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR

image

You want to keep your following engaged, market your brand and be different? Videos are in more than ever before. Even Instagram has incorporated video into their platform (and you already know we love us a good filter or two). Video is more engaging and fast: besides tutorials via Youtube, now you can see an increase in communication across the use of apps or platforms such as Skype, Google Hangout, or Line via mobile or computer. Now, how many of you will be answering calls from you new wrist technology?

3D: THE WAY TO BE

image

image

Seriously all the rage in 2013, we’ll see a lot more 3-D prints used at events in 2014. Even if it’s including a caricaturist to make 3-D artwork at your next event, you want to create #buzz, and this is a sure-fire way to do it!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

image

Though we’re all about going local, next year we have to think outside our postal code. We loved this article in the @EventManagerBlog which features great emerging locations for events, talking about considering competitive local rates in another country like Brazil, South Africa or even India. It’s all about making yourself stand out and making your client(s) feel unique.

Have you implemented any of these trends this year?
