Feature Friday: Imported Briton Carpet & Your Wishes Come True

image

We’re wrapping up another great week here at Boomset’s HQ—so great we only #TBT'd to Tuesday—of this week—when we were at the Tibet House US’s Annual Benefit Concert. We’ll say it again and again: we deeply appreciate the opportunity to be at the door of each and every event we do, being able to meet and greet some of the most inspiring and influential minds of today at check-in.

image

Ok, sappy enough for today, no? It’s Friday—and you know what that means…

Featured Venue: e s p a c e NYC

image

Imported Briton carpet? Check. Custom-designed chairs? Got it. An ultra stylish space where modern and elegant ideas meet? Let’s get to making the guest list!

Runways, auto shows, not-for-profit events, weddings and more—you name it, you can create it at espace. They have designed floor plans that vary for each different type of event, in the pre-function room of 3,500 sq. feet, and/or the ballroom, almost double the size at 6,500 sq. feet, and the service staff—including security and a doorman—are all included with the space rental.

Disney, VOGUE, Food and Wine Magazine and the WSJ are only a few of the high-profile names that are part of their impressive list of clients. Want to add your name? Fill out their contact form, or give them a ring after taking a look at the site here.

Featured Event Detail: Wish Tree by Simply Mad Weddings

image

Our wedding planners are especially going to love this one. The legend goes as follows:

From India to Scotland to Argentina many countries have special trees they have deemed wishing trees for their spiritual value. Practices vary slightly from country to country, but they all have something in common; people across the world look to these trees for good fortune, health and for dreams to come true by making an offering, saying a prayer or hanging a wish.

Now they are without a doubt perfect for weddings and engagements, but we’re actually looking forward to seeing these beauties by Simply Mad Weddings incorporated into other types of events. Guests can take home a keepsake ornament that you can customize to any particular theme or color, offering a unique alternative to the traditional guestbook.

image

Make a wish!

We think it’s a beautiful addition to add some “wishful thinking” in a romantic way. What do you think?

Take a look at the Simply Mad Wedding Etsy store for more info. Tell them we sent’cha!

Feature Friday: Suite Status, A “Kreative” Koncept & Spritzing

How has everyone’s week been? Ours took us to the West Coast to man the registration and name badges for the #DSM14 Conference with @DocuSign. This was an extra important event because of the BIG debut of our kiosk mode—customized for the folks at DocuSign—that we were telling you about last week. Have you seen it?

image

image

Organized, efficient and an overall success, and a brief getaway from the snow. Boom(set)!

image

Our tech guy has become quite the photog!

Let’s get to the highlights, shall we?

Featured Venue: Suite 36

image

A sports bar with a cigar lounge feel, Suite36 was another part of our #plannercrawl fun. The multifunctional space in Midtown West is ideal for events from sports viewings to intimate gatherings, and the menu is nothing short of impressive. The service staff is out-of-this-world: hire them to have trio platters passed, or work with the event coordinator to customize any food option that suits your event. And do try the cocktails—-unique and fresh ingredients paired together to add a little bit of tasty flair to the event.

image

The venue is available for events on the ground floor or the upper level, which boasts three suite areas: the Plaza, the Presidential and stunning views of the ESB through the skylight in the Empire suite. Up or down, it’s the perfect atmosphere to incorporate live entertainment—-trust us!

Contact their events team here for inquiries and bookings.

Featured #Eventprof: Koncept Events

image

Even with 25+ years of corporate event management experience, we’re fans of Koncept Events not only for their social engagement with the #eventprofs community, but for their dynamic approach to event planning. Their services range from destination management and tours/excursions to event design and offsite venue management. The list goes on, seriously—take a look at their work in action by watching this semi-short video:

We also love their sense of style…fascinators are IN!

Like we said, they’re all about engaging their audience, and that’s certainly not limited to who they’re connected with on the social networks. They aim to create engaging EXPERIENCES for their clients, and we definitely appreciate that.

Head on over to their website, take a look around, get inspired and connect with them—-or plan your escape to warmer weather ;).

Featured Good-To-Know: Spritz App

There’s been so much buzz about this app over the last few days that we wouldn’t be surprised if this is old news to you already, #eventprofs. Event professionals hold the #5 spot for most stressful jobs this year, and as organized as you may be, how many of you feel like there just aren’t enough hours in a day?

image

How much time do you spend during the day reading? A whole lot, right? Messages, documents, e-mails, BLOGS…we read to become informed or inspired—and for those of us that like to unwind with a good novel—for leisure. Now imagine if you could read FASTER, let’s say, 1,000 words per minute? That’s where Spritz comes in.

               image

It’s an app designed to help you increase your reading time by using a different kind of approach to reading. Horizontal lines and hash marks help you focus on a red letter that’s placed into each word of a written work, which is given to you via compact text streaming. Sounds technical, but it’s super-simple. Go see what all the buzz is about and get to Spritzing here on the Spritz site.

What do we think, #eventprofs? Beneficial? It really is an extraordinary advance in technology—though we feel that turning pages and really taking in that distinctive scent of an old piece of literature every now and then isn’t all that bad.

Feature Friday: Tyra Banks on the LES & Adding Sparkle to Your Events

image

What happens when some of the world’s most influential “changemakers” come together? They make a difference. We were honored to be at the door of such an event this week for the Lower East Side Girls Club Grand Opening Gala, along with the Top Model herself, Tyra Banks, and other greats Rosario Dawson, Simon Doonan and Jonathan Adler.

image

Guests checked-in and according to color received a bracelet to assign their seating for the dinner portion of the evening. The night was a huge success—take a look.

Onto our #FeatureFriday faves for the week!

Featured Venue: 404

image

The folks at 404 NYC encourage the originality and creativity from #eventprofs to bring out the uniqueness of the space. A custom-made built-in bar makes it the perfect place to host a cocktail party of up to 500 guests, or to use as an added detail to your corporate event, wedding or fashion show (MBFW is quickly approaching!). The venue also has street access, ideal for automotive use—or any other creative ideas you can think up. What’s more, you get spectacular views of NYC’s High-line from the Mezzanine level of the space.

For more information and bookings, click here.

Featured #Eventprof: Jordana Hazan, Untapped PR Movement

         image

Speaking of Fashion Week, Jordana is an international fashion-savvy PR professional, detailing events for clients such as Nina Ricci and Porche. She specializes in adding unique flair to every event she coordinates, and aims to build relationships and lasting connections with all of her clients. For those of you in NYC next week, you can check out her Holiday Shopping Red Carpet Gala at The Carlton Hotel—another fabulous NYC venue worth scoping out.

For more information about the event and what Jordana offers, visit her page here.

Featured #DIY Event Fun: Party Poppers

image

Add some sparkle and a “pop” of fun to your event with these DIY confetti poppers. They’re easy to make and Wedding Bells blog has conveniently put together the step-by-step instructions to help you make them one-of-a-kind for your next event. Make sure you ask your venue about their clean-up policy!

Part of the #TrendingTopic

                      image

We are almost through the first week of November! We spent the end of our weekend welcoming people from all over the world as they crossed the finish line at the ING NYC Marathon, which was an incredible and unforgettable experience.

What seems to be flying by us just as fast as the Marathon elitists is the time we have left until the new year: all the department stores haven’t been beating it into our brains reminding us since Halloween, or anything.

Either way, we want to be ready for what’s to come in the event industry. Here are a couple of trends to look out for in 2014:

BE MOBILE, MY FRIEND

        image

Many tech companies launched their latest runway accessory: wearable technology. In 2014, you’ll be seeing more #eventprofs in the industry sporting their virtual flair to assist them at events. You’ll see more people using their tablet instead of an actual notebook, as well.

VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR

image

You want to keep your following engaged, market your brand and be different? Videos are in more than ever before. Even Instagram has incorporated video into their platform (and you already know we love us a good filter or two). Video is more engaging and fast: besides tutorials via Youtube, now you can see an increase in communication across the use of apps or platforms such as Skype, Google Hangout, or Line via mobile or computer. Now, how many of you will be answering calls from you new wrist technology?

3D: THE WAY TO BE

image

image

Seriously all the rage in 2013, we’ll see a lot more 3-D prints used at events in 2014. Even if it’s including a caricaturist to make 3-D artwork at your next event, you want to create #buzz, and this is a sure-fire way to do it!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

image

Though we’re all about going local, next year we have to think outside our postal code. We loved this article in the @EventManagerBlog which features great emerging locations for events, talking about considering competitive local rates in another country like Brazil, South Africa or even India. It’s all about making yourself stand out and making your client(s) feel unique.

Have you implemented any of these trends this year?

Feature Friday: Rooftop Status in Midtown

image

It’ll be here before you know it. What? The “first outdoor, cold weather” Super Bowl, hosted right here in New York/New Jersey. Why are we rushing through the next few months? We’re totally not, we just wanted all of our #eventprofs out there to start thinking about their innovative Super Bowl XLVIII ideas. Make sure you get on Pinterest for some creative inspiration—and join our board to maximize your event’s exposure!

Onto this week’s finds!

Featured Venue: Toshi’s Living Room & Penthouse

image

Conveniently located in one of NYC’s most historic landmarks, Toshi’s is one of the hottest rooftop venues, and it’s right inside the Flatiron Building. Known for its trendy birthday parties, corporate events and mixers, Toshi’s is not only home to these spectacular views but is also the host venue to some of NYC’s hottest up-and-coming musical acts. If you want to get a better feel for the venue, visit during Happy Hour & be sure to check out their menu. It’s sure to be a 360` good time had by all!

For more info & for bookings, visit their website.

Featured Find: The Scootcase

                    image

It might just be called the Suitcase Scooter by Samsonite, but either way it’s pretty innovative. We thought it was a pretty neat find for all those who are always “on the go” and need to carry a couple extra things, sans the bulkiness of a shoulder bag or briefcase. It’s also the perfect “accessory" for those new bike lanes in NYC.

Grab one here.

Featured Event Planner: Christina Leigh Events

      image

We found her boards via this great post by the Event Manager Blog. She’s got some really inspiring and colorful finds for any and every event you could imagine. If you’re a fan of fashion, food, home decor & glitter, you need to take a look at her finds.

(Photo taken at last year’s event via Marianne White, Untitled Magazine)

It’s Monday, and we’re excited to start a new week after participating in the South South Awards this past weekend at the infamous Waldorf Astoria in New York City. It was a successful event for all—featuring inspiring looks for the fashionistas and great coverage for our photographer and journalist friends. Boomset was at the helm of the registration team, checking in over 500+ guests—including ambassadors of the world, socialites and celebrity guests alike—as dapper gentlemen adjusted their bow ties and flowing gowns drifted below the glittering crystal chandeliers.

The South South Awards was created to celebrate the achievements of countries from the Global South. This is the third year leaders from around the world have gathered during UN General Assembly week to celebrate this year’s theme, “Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Development.”

Former South African president Nelson Mandela was honored with the Humanitarian Achievement Award, as the event was hosted by Miss USA herself, Erin Brady.

It was a fantastic evening, and a great way to start the week. Click here to read more about the South South Awards.
