Feature Friday

image

The city was in full holiday mode this week, especially with the lighting of the tree in Rockefeller Center. Let the ice skating, endless cups of hot cocoa and outrageously-fun holiday parties commence!

Let’s get to the first finds for December and one of the last few editions left for 2013…

Featured Venue: Hyatt Times Square

image

We had the pleasure of meeting with some of the lovely team members of the Hyatt this week and were informed of the opening this past Tuesday. It features the ONLY hotel spa in Times Square, an upscale diner restaurant and is home to the highest rooftop lounge in NYC (54 floors up high in the sky, to be exact).

image

The hotel boasts 8,000 square feet of meeting and event space with floor-to-ceiling windows, and for a more intimate affair, a 2,000-square-foot ballroom and 1,400-square-foot outdoor terrace event space overlooking the city, right in the heart of Times Square.

Our favorite part? The hi-tech amenities like iPad Check-in. We can’t wait to stay over!

For more about the venue or booking a room, take a look here.

Featured #EventProf: First Protocol

image

One of the best international event management and production companies in the business, we’re lucky to have the folks at First Protocol as part of our network. They work globally to provide their clientele—including JP Morgan, PepsiCo and NASDAQ, to name just a few—with impeccable service. They aim to attain the utmost satisfaction going as far (and beyond!) as providing advisory services and resource solutions to their clients, as well.

You can find their impressive portfolio and more information about the company here.

(Re)Featured Fun: Paint Nite

image

Awhile back—a legit #ThrowbackThursday if today weren’t Friday—we mentioned something about Paint Nite as an activity to spark your creativity, or let loose and enter your state of zen before or after a stressful—but successful—event.  We were finally able to participate in the activity to really see what it was all about.

image

As we sipped on tasty beverages from the Astoria Brewhouse, Brenda Kato—the “Queen of Queens” and head artist of PaintNite Queens—and our lovely instructor Nancy Hoffmann led us through a wonderful and creative painting session.

The event is definitely worth attending, and with so many options for foodies in Astoria, you can make it a nice evening out with friends, colleagues, or maybe even clients.

We’re no bunch of Picassos, but not too shabby, huh?

Feature Friday

image

What happens when some of the world’s most influential “changemakers” come together? They make a difference. We were honored to be at the door of such an event this week for the Lower East Side Girls Club Grand Opening Gala, along with the Top Model herself, Tyra Banks, and other greats Rosario Dawson, Simon Doonan and Jonathan Adler.

image

Guests checked-in and according to color received a bracelet to assign their seating for the dinner portion of the evening. The night was a huge success—take a look.

Onto our #FeatureFriday faves for the week!

Featured Venue: 404

image

The folks at 404 NYC encourage the originality and creativity from #eventprofs to bring out the uniqueness of the space. A custom-made built-in bar makes it the perfect place to host a cocktail party of up to 500 guests, or to use as an added detail to your corporate event, wedding or fashion show (MBFW is quickly approaching!). The venue also has street access, ideal for automotive use—or any other creative ideas you can think up. What’s more, you get spectacular views of NYC’s High-line from the Mezzanine level of the space.

For more information and bookings, click here.

Featured #Eventprof: Jordana Hazan, Untapped PR Movement

         image

Speaking of Fashion Week, Jordana is an international fashion-savvy PR professional, detailing events for clients such as Nina Ricci and Porche. She specializes in adding unique flair to every event she coordinates, and aims to build relationships and lasting connections with all of her clients. For those of you in NYC next week, you can check out her Holiday Shopping Red Carpet Gala at The Carlton Hotel—another fabulous NYC venue worth scoping out.

Featured #DIY Event Fun: Party Poppers

image

Add some sparkle and a “pop” of fun to your event with these DIY confetti poppers. They’re easy to make and Wedding Bells blog has conveniently put together the step-by-step instructions to help you make them one-of-a-kind for your next event. Make sure you ask your venue about their clean-up policy!

Feature Friday

Halloween has come and gone. Boo! (Not the scary kind…)

The city was streaked with some pretty creative costumes—lots of Miley Cyrus admirers Halloween-goers, that’s for sure. We had a blast celebrating with our friends, party and event planners The Spaniards, over at Pranna NYC on Thursday night. Those that attended the event definitely need to check out their page to see if they made the photo roll!

Let’s get to our finds for this week!

Featured Venue: Bagetelle

It’s chic, classy and throws the best brunch in town! Head on down to the Meatpacking District to check out its multi-room St. Tropez and Parisian-inspired indoor/outdoor design. You can hold your own private event and taste the French Mediterranean-style cuisine, or participate in one of their themed events. This is what’s going down next Wednesday if you’d like to get a feel for the venue. They also offer a “signature music program” that features world-renowned DJs.

For reservations and more, visit Bagatelle’s website here.

Featured #Eventprof: Swank Productions

Known for her luxury weddings and stunning event designs from NYC and beyond, @MayaKalman is like the Wonder Woman of events. One of our top Swank Production events has to be the Great Gatsby-inspired wedding she designed out on Long Island at the Hempstead House, which in and of itself is a spectacular venue for any event! She’s pretty keen on being unique, so Swank isn’t down to do the same kind of event twice. She wants every client to feel like their event: one-of-a-kind.

Definitely check out her website, if not just for the gorgeous photos for the utmost Pinterest inspiration!

Featured (& Tasty) Find: Drink More Good

What is it? All-natural bitters, sodas, syrups and teas that are nothing short of fantastic. We discovered this up-and-coming on the foodie scene on our recent trip up to Beacon, NY.  The ingredients are locally sourced, organic, and the wild-crafted herbs & spices are used to make artisanal, extremely small-batches to taste and enjoy in the comfort of your own home or in various venues that are on top of the tasty trend.

The lovely Cassandra played barista and served us up the bubbly concoctions and we left with our bellies—and bags—full. One of the best parts? They take 10% of their net profit to donate to Generosity Water—always. We love that!

Check out their site here to place an order or find a venue near you.

It’s Monday, and we’re excited to start a new week after participating in the South South Awards this past weekend at the infamous Waldorf Astoria in New York City. It was a successful event for all—featuring inspiring looks for the fashionistas and great coverage for our photographer and journalist friends. Boomset was at the helm of the registration team, checking in over 500+ guests—including ambassadors of the world, socialites and celebrity guests alike—as dapper gentlemen adjusted their bow ties and flowing gowns drifted below the glittering crystal chandeliers.

The South South Awards was created to celebrate the achievements of countries from the Global South. This is the third year leaders from around the world have gathered during UN General Assembly week to celebrate this year’s theme, “Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Development.”

Former South African president Nelson Mandela was honored with the Humanitarian Achievement Award, as the event was hosted by Miss USA herself, Erin Brady.
